The outer glass layer is then finished with a polished surface contrasting with the satin mat of a creamy yellow ground

The glass production kept going after the death of Emile Gallé in 1904.
The period between 1918 and 1936 is one of mass production of very high-quality, mastering the technique of acid etching which lacked in the earlier pieces.
