Pierre Félix Masseau, known as Fix-Masseau, was a French sculptor, Director of the École Nationale d'Art Décoratif in Limoges until 1935
He exhibited at the Salon des artistes Français in 1890 and 1892 and is the father of poster artist Pierre Fix-Masseau
His works can be seen in:
Paris: Musée d’Orsay and Jardin du Luxembourg; Beauvais: Musée départemental de l’Oise; Lyon: Musée des Beaux-Arts.
Masseau is directly inspired by a life-size marble entitled Le Terrassier or The Digger in English, sculpted by Alfred Boucher (1850-1934), exhibited at the Salon in 1890 and is now in the Musee Galliera, Paris -see photograph
