Alice Danyett was probably a Grand Tour traveller in late 19th century where a typical itinerary of Englishmen «of quality» will include a few months in Florence.
The Flemish painter Hans Memling was much admired during the late-19th century and his 1480’s main version of the Mater Dolorosa is conserved at the Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence.
