Each piece is acid etched and signed on the bottom of the base
The 'chardon' (thistle) was the original inspiration behind this service when it was created for the Nancy exhibition in 1908 at the height of the Art Nouveau movement
Later Chardon (French for “Thistle”) was anglicized, becoming Thistle. It has been produced ever since by the Saint Louis Company in France.
